the zealous preoccupation with authenticity is a symptom of fascism

for the seeker of authenticity is the seeker of authority.

if you find yourself trying to establish the subjectness of a certain identity category, trying to verify whether someone is “a real [insert political stance, identity category, an identiterian deterritorialization, a bodily/emotional state or any old noun here],” think again.

why is it in your interest to police the boundaries of a definition, subjectivity or viewpoint? why do you feel threatened by inauthenticity (however you define it)? what gives you the authority to judge? in other words, how do you authenticate yourself as the judge of authenticity?
